The International Friends of the Mauritshuis are pleased to invite you to a fascinating lecture in the Mauritshuis Brasserie on Tuesday 10 October at 18:00. They also extend a warm welcome to guest speaker, Nadia Groeneveld-Baadj, curator of ancient art at Het Noordbrabants Museum in 's-Hertogenbosch.
Nadia and her team are responsible for the tremendous new exhibition, ‘Brueghel: The Family Reunion’, opening at Het Noordbrabants on 30 September. For the first time, a unique collection of eighty world-class paintings and prints from all five generations of this extraordinary artistic family has been assembled under one roof.
Nadia will present the lecture at the Mauritshuis Brasserie and be available to answer your questions. She will highlight the broad range of subjects covered by the Brueghels, from wedding celebrations to proverbs, Biblical stories to landscapes, and studies of animals, insects and flowers. Nadia will show how the Brueghels’ exceptional skills, unique humour and creative use of universal messages brought them admiration across the world.
